It’s been warning users since 2022 that, eventually, accessing Fitbit — since renamed Google Health — would require using a Google account. The company’s given us a lot of runway to migrate our data, even pushing back the deadline early this year. But that extended deadline came and went in May, and now, Google has removed the option to log into Google Health with legacy Fitbit account credentials. The announcement came by way of some very sparse update notes for Google Health version 5.08. The latest version of the app fixes some bugs, but the primary change is that now, you can only log in using your Google account. Google also says that data that hasn’t been migrated from legacy Fitbit accounts to current Google accounts “will be deleted.”
