Last November, Google added something pretty exciting to Pixel phones: a new feature called “Pixel Themes.” Pixels have long trailed other Android phones in home screen and system customization, so the prospect of a new theme system sounded like just what the doctor ordered.

As it turns out, that couldn’t have been further from the truth.
