Gmail has already made email easier to navigate this month with Live voice features and Gemini-powered inbox answers, and now Google is shaving another few seconds off a common task. Gmail is rolling out a new “Copy code” shortcut that lets you grab a 2FA code straight from the inbox without opening the message first.

While two-factor authentication is supposed to keep your accounts safer, the last step can still feel unnecessarily clumsy when the code lands in your inbox. This shortcut is here to address that, and it appears as a pill-shaped “Copy code: 000000” button beneath the email’s subject line, in the same area Gmail uses for attachment previews and other contextual actions.
