The event could finally reveal the official name of the Android-based operating system we’ve been calling Aluminium OS. Google is also expected to showcase hardware from its launch partners and give media hands-on access to the first Googlebooks. After multiple leaks of Googlebook devices from the likes of Lenovo, Acer, and ASUS, we finally have a date for when Google is expected to officially announce its new laptop platform and reveal the name of the underlying software that has, until now, been known as Aluminium OS. According to Chrome Unboxed, Google has invited media to an in-person Googlebook preview event in New York City on September 15, 2026. The event is expected to be a full hardware showcase, giving us our first official look at Google’s Android-based laptop platform and the devices that will launch with it.
