  1. TL;DR Samsung has quietly changed the Galaxy S26 series’ One UI 9 rollout date in Thailand from September 21 to September 28. The new date puts the Galaxy S26 series alongside the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7, which were already scheduled for September 28. Samsung hasn’t explained the change or announced a wider delay, so it’s unclear whether the revised date applies beyond Thailand. Samsung’s One UI 9 rollout may have hit a small speed bump, at least for Galaxy S26 owners outside Korea. Samsung started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update to the Galaxy S26 series in Korea a few days ago, which usually means owners elsewhere don’t have to wait too long. The company even gave a fairly specific date to look forward to. Samsung’s Thailand Newsroom previously listed September 21 as the rollout date for the Galaxy S26 series, followed by September 28 for the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7. September 21 has now passed, though, and Samsung appears to have quietly changed its plans.
  2. TL;DR Motorola has shared yet another teaser for the upcoming Signature 27 flagship. The teaser gives us a glimpse at the phone’s speaker setup and rear design. Motorola also announced a partnership with Bang & Olufsen for sound tuning, sound modes, and more. As we get closer to the scheduled launch of Motorola’s Signature 27 flagship, the company has shared yet another teaser for the phone. While earlier teasers offered a glimpse of the camera island, this latest one provides a better look at the entire device. Technically, the new teaser is an X video announcing Motorola’s partnership with audio brand Bang & Olufsen. However, we catch glimpses of the upcoming phone throughout the clip, including the rear panel and the top speaker grille. The video also confirms that the phone will feature a stereo speaker setup. While there was never much doubt, today’s teaser officially confirms that the Signature 27 will include speakers on both the top and bottom for stereo sound.
  3. TL;DR MediaTek has announced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, which is its first processor for Googlebooks. The chipset appears to be nearly identical to its previously released Kompanio Ultra chip for Chromebooks. The company says that this chipset will power an upcoming “premium” Googlebook. Googlebooks are finally here, and we’ve got devices powered by both Intel and Qualcomm processors. There’s no MediaTek-powered laptop at launch, though, but the company has now revealed its first chipset for Googlebooks. MediaTek announced the Dimensity CX C10 Max yesterday (September 21), and the company promises that this chipset will deliver “all-day” battery life and support Gemini Intelligence. However, a cursory glance at the spec sheet suggests we’re looking at a variant of the previously released Kompanio Ultra chipset for Chromebooks. The Kompanio Ultra was, in turn, based on the Dimensity 9400 smartphone processor.
  4. Credit: Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Google Messages is preparing a new layout that moves Gemini to the top and brings Search to the bottom of the screen. The Start chat and Search buttons will intuitively expand and collapse depending on what you’re doing in the app. Google is also revamping the Search experience within Messages. Google Messages is getting ready for another UI shake-up, and we’ve spotted all the changes that may be headed to the app soon.
  5. Credit: Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Google is rolling out Motion Assist to more Android phones through the latest Google Play services update. The feature uses moving visual bubbles around the edges of your screen that match a vehicle’s movement to help reduce motion sickness. You need a phone running Android 17 or newer and an up-to-date version of Google Play services to use it. Google’s Motion Assist feature is now moving beyond Pixel devices to more Android phones thanks to the latest Google Play services update.
  6. Credit: Andy Walker / Android Authority TL;DR Google has officially moved games on Android Auto and Android Automotive OS out of beta and made them generally available. You can already play supported games on your car’s screen while parked by browsing through Google’s collection of games for Android Auto and Android Automotive, but developers can now publish compatible titles to Google Play’s open testing and production tracks. Android Auto and Android Automotive games are blocked while you’re driving for obvious safety reasons. If you’ve ever found yourself sitting in your car with nothing to do, Google is ramping up options for your entertainment. In addition to onboarding video streaming services on Android Auto and Android Automotive, Google is also making in-car gaming a bigger deal this year.
  7. Credit: Chase Bernath / Android Authority TL;DR Global AI glasses shipments jumped 263% year over year in H1 2026, according to Counterpoint Research. Display-less models accounted for 96% of shipments, with Meta holding a dominant 94% share of that segment. Shipments of AR glasses surged 449% year over year, albeit from a low base. Smart glasses might still feel like a niche category of tech, but they seem to be selling at a much faster clip than they were a year ago. Global AI glasses shipments jumped 263% year over year in the first half of 2026, and the vast majority weren’t AR specs. Counterpoint Research’s latest Intelligent Eyewear Market Tracker attributes most of that growth to the cheaper, more mature display-less category, which includes products such as the Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses. Shipments in this segment rose 258% year over year and 22% compared with the second half of 2025.
  8. TL;DR Apple’s been overhyping some Siri Apple Intelligence features, and has agreed to settle with users who feel they didn’t get what was promised. Shoppers who bought specific iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 models during a 2024–2025 window may be eligible to submit a claim. While the exact amount you’d receive isn’t guaranteed, a $25 figure per device sounds likely. Sometimes, it’s hard to go even a single day without feeling like companies are taking advantage of you. Maybe it’s your streaming services raising prices again, or that tub of ice cream at the supermarket coming in smaller and smaller than the half gallon it’s supposed to be. With so many little injustices wearing us down, we feel positively giddy when the tables are turned and it’s instead a company that owes us money for a change. If you’re an Apple smartphone user, that may be exactly the situation you’re in right now. Right now, Siri is experiencing its latest Apple Intelligence moment with the arrival of iOS 27 and the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple’s been teasing Siri’s big AI upgrades for literally years now, though, and while it’s definitely great that it’s finally getting a lot better, what about everybody who bought an iPhone back then and didn’t get the Apple Intelligence they expected at the time?
  9. Credit: Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Workspace is giving Google Sheets a new add-on. Workday for Google Sheets eliminates the need for manual CSV downloads. This add-on will be available to all Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal accounts. Google Sheets users have been getting spoiled these last few weeks. Earlier this month, Gemini became available for the Sheets Android app. That update came only days after the tech giant expanded the number of available fonts. Now, Google is giving a gift to the financial analysts out there. Today, the Mountain View-based firm introduced a new add-on called Workday for Google Sheets. Available in the Google Workspace Marketplace, this add-on connects Workday Adaptive Planning to Google Sheets and Slides. Its purpose is to eliminate the need for manual comma-separated values CSV downloads.
  10. TL;DR Google has confirmed that Gemini gained unauthorized access to three separate companies’ data earlier this summer. The breaches were the result of a third-party cybersecurity test that was apparently improperly configured. Gemini reportedly didn’t retrieve any information from the systems it breached. On the heels of provocative disclosures from competitors OpenAI and Anthropic this summer, Google’s now the latest tech giant to confirm that its AI has hacked other companies. As reported by Ars Technica, Google has confirmed details in a Wall Street Journal report from last week that spelled out how Gemini models being tested by third-party cybersecurity firm Irregular erroneously made their way onto the open web and hacked into three companies’ servers in May.
  11. TL;DR New hands-on videos show the OnePlus 16’s “Interstellar Lighting Effect” in action across three rear illumination zones. The lights appear to use a fixed orange-yellow color and can blink or stay illuminated depending on the alert. The feature seems exclusive to the Tomorrow’s Starlight colorway, and the OnePlus 16 is not expected to launch officially in North America. It’s been just a few hours since we got our first proper official look at the OnePlus 16, and we’re already getting a much better idea of what its most unique design upgrade looks like in action. Following Google’s HiLight feature and Nothing’s more established Glyph Matrix design, OnePlus is now putting its own spin on notification lighting on the rear of its latest device. The design, which the company is calling its “Interstellar Lighting Effect,” will reportedly notify users about incoming calls, texts, game highlights, and more. Up until the announcement, though, we’d only read about how the feature would work. Now, with hands-on videos out, we can finally see what OnePlus’ implementation looks like.
  12. Amazon has dropped the Energizer Portable Bluetooth Speaker to $99.99 in a lightning deal, down from its $129.99 retail price. That saves you $30, which is 23% off the recommended retail price, and it only has a matter of hours left to run. See the deal at Amazon
  13. TL;DR Google developers have been working on a new UI for how Gemini users access their settings. We already saw Google preparing to relocate many of the options currently on the account switcher view. Now we have a better sense for the look this new interface could take, including moving some options to sub-screens. Gemini is constantly evolving, and when that doesn’t mean the introduction of a new model, it’s often because we’re checking out Google’s latest tweaks to the layout of the app itself. Last week, we uncovered early progress towards changing up how Gemini Settings operate, moving information over from your account switcher. That effort appears to only be expanding, as we spot some further adjustments in the work for Gemini Settings. You’re reading an Authority Insights story. Authority Insights brings you all the latest exclusive reports, app teardowns, leaks, and in-depth tech coverage from the Android Authority team that you won’t find anywhere else.
  14. Credit: C. Scott Brown / Android Authority TL;DR Users in countries outside the US report that their Nest Doorbell announcements have inexplicably switched to an American accent. The issue reportedly does not occur with any other Google device interactions. One user claims that you can fix the issue by setting English (US) as your secondary language and deleting it after a few seconds. Google Home has had a flare-up of issues in recent days. Most recently, Voice Match has been struggling to identify who’s speaking. As Google toils away on a fix for that problem, another odd bug has shown up unannounced. This issue specifically affects the Nest Doorbell. Gemini for Home supports up to 10 languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese. You can even pick a preferred accent, like US or UK English. While there may be some people who prefer to hear accents other than their own, most people tend to pick a voice that uses the same accent they do. Wouldn’t it be a bit jarring if your assistant suddenly started talking in your language but with a different accent?
  15. Keeping up with pet hair, dust, and daily messes can turn into a chore that never really ends. That is why a robot vacuum like the Roborock Q7 L5 makes a lot of sense, and right now, there is a strong Amazon deal on it too. See the deal at Amazon
  16. Amazon just cut the Samsung 25-inch Odyssey G4 gaming monitor to $189.99, down from its $279.99 RRP. That saves you $90, a 32% discount off the recommended retail price, and it is easily the lowest price we have ever seen for this model. See the deal at Amazon
  17. Credit: Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung is investigating an issue with DIY Home. Normal folders work as expected, but hidden folders are experiencing an app icon delay. Users report that the bug appeared after updating to One UI 9. Customization is one of the many reasons why Samsung fans love Galaxy phones. The Good Lock software suite opens up all kinds of possibilities to personalize your Android experience. However, just like any other software, Good Lock’s modules are not immune to bugs. And it appears the Home Up module is acting up after a recent update. Galaxy owners have identified an issue with DIY Home, a Home Up feature that allows you to freely arrange, rotate, resize, and overlap app icons, widgets, and folders. The issue in question concerns how icons appear in a hidden folder. As one user demonstrates in a screen recording, there’s a brief delay between when the hidden folder is opened and when the icons become visible. In contrast, there’s zero delay when opening a normal folder.
  18. The Dangbei DBOX02 is a 4K UHD laser projector built for big-screen movie nights without a lot of extra gear, and there’s a strong Amazon deal on it right now. It combines Google TV, officially licensed Netflix, and built-in Chromecast, so it’s made for streaming straight out of the box. See the deal at Amazon
  19. Credit: Rita El Khoury / Android Authority TL;DR Spotify is testing a “Premium Early Access” window that delays brand-new album releases for non-paying accounts by three days in select regions. The delay stems from label-level licensing requirements, led by Universal Music Group, which will also affect competing ad-supported services like YouTube Music and Amazon Music. Reddit users are largely criticizing the move, warning of increased piracy, while defenders point out lower revenue payouts from ad-supported tiers. Just last week, Spotify finally allowed users to opt out of having their recommendations influenced by kids’ and family music, delivering a long-requested feature that keeps children’s music out of your Discover playlists and even Wrapped. Not every change is that well-celebrated, though. Spotify now seems to be testing a far more controversial change: a “Premium Early Access” window that delays brand-new music releases for non-paying users by three days. According to Reddit user stan_tripleS, free users in select regions, such as India and Bangladesh, are seeing new album releases delayed by a three-day waiting window, which is bypassed exclusively by paying subscribers. While marketed as an “early access” perk for Premium subscribers, Spotify is effectively manufacturing an artificial delay for free accounts rather than delivering music ahead of release dates to Premium users. Before you pick up your pitchforks against Spotify, this particular move may not be Spotify getting greedy on its own accord.
  20. The Anker Prime Docking Station is back down to $169.99 at Amazon, which is $100 off its $269.99 retail price. That is a 37% discount off the RRP, bringing this premium desk hub to its all-time low. For anyone building a cleaner desk setup, this is a good time to buy rather than paying full price later. See the deal at Amazon
  21. TL;DR Motorola has shared another teaser of the Signature 27 flagship, this time detailing the rear camera island. The company will release the new flagship at the Snapdragon Summit, which kicks off on September 22. Recent rumors suggest Motorola could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip on the flagship, which is also expected to be revealed during the annual Qualcomm event. Motorola released its Signature flagship in some markets earlier this year, though it skipped a US release. Recent teasers suggest the company may change that with the Signature 27, scheduled to break cover on Tuesday. Motorola is now offering a closer look at its upcoming high-end smartphone, just a day before its launch. In a post on X, the Motorola US account shared an image showing part of the Signature 27’s rear panel. The focus is on the camera island, which includes four sensors and what is presumably the LED flash sitting on top of a mammoth camera island. This arrangement of the sensors is likely to trigger trypophobia for some users.
  22. TL;DRThe Acer Googlebook 14 arrives alongside models from other manufacturers. While all options come with a high-resolution touchscreen, the Acer Googlebook offers a unique proposition: a convertible design with a 360º rotatable hinge. The Acer Googlebook also supports stylus input via USI 2.0 protocol. After months of anticipation, sprinkled with some high-stakes leaks, the Googlebook has finally launched. The lineup at launch includes five distinct options from different PC brands. Beyond the Android-powered interface and premium positioning, all the options share one thing in common: a high-resolution touchscreen. But one of the five models takes it a step further by offering a screen that’s a touch more versatile. The Acer Googlebook 14 is the only option in the entire lineup with a 360º convertible form factor. That means the screen can rotate 360º along the hinge, letting users use it in tent or tablet mode. That’s a unique advantage no other Googlebook model offers so far. The touchscreen also supports the USI 2.0 standard, which lets you use any compatible stylus for input. Notably, it does skip out on the haptic trackpad that other models from ASUS, HP, and Lenovo offer.
  23. Busy homes can get messy fast, especially when you have hard floors, pet hair, and not much time to stay on top of it. That is why this deal on the Dreame L40s Ultra AE Robot Vacuum and Mop at Amazon stands out right away. See the deal at Amazon
  24. TL;DR T-Mobile may be preparing a new perk system that lets customers choose the benefit they actually want. Internal codes point to Apple Music, YouTube, SiriusXM, Paramount Plus, ESPN Plus, Xbox Game Pass, Google AI, and DashPass. T-Mobile hasn’t announced the program yet, so eligibility, launch timing, and the exact subscription tiers remain unclear. What if your carrier perk was something you actually wanted? That would be a refreshing change of pace for T-Mobile, which has spent the past year frustrating longtime customers and then trying to win back some of that goodwill with revamped offerings. Now, it may have another olive branch in the works: New internal codes suggest T-Mobile could be preparing a “pick your perk” offer with choices ranging from Apple Music and YouTube to Xbox Game Pass and Google AI. According to The Mobile Report, an anonymous T-Mobile employee spotted eight new account-level SOC codes in the carrier’s systems. These codes are internal identifiers for plans, add-ons, and other account features, and most of the newly discovered ones end in “OUA,” which the report believes could mean “On Us Add-on.”
  25. TL;DR Google has now fully launched its new Android-powered Googlebook platform. Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, and HP have also announced premium Googlebook laptops starting at $899. The first Googlebooks will go on sale in the US on October 4, with pre-orders now open across the Google Store, Best Buy, and select retailers. Google is officially entering a new chapter in the laptop market with the Googlebook platform finally going mainstream after months of anticipation, leaks, and teasers. What we’ve known so far as Google’s Aluminium OS finally has an official name: Googlebook OS. Built on the Android technology stack with foundations from Chrome OS, the new platform is designed to turn a premium laptop into a true companion for your Android phone.
