Chelsea staged a comeback in the League Cup, winning a 9-goal shootout against Leeds

London's Chelsea advanced to the round of 16 of the 2026/27 English League Cup.
On September 9, the Blues defeated Leeds 6–3 at their home stadium, Stamford Bridge.
In the 48th minute, the Blues were trailing 0–2 after goals by Tarik Muharemović and Brenden Aaronson.
Between the 52nd and 65th minutes, Xabi Alonso’s team scored four goals—Cole Palmer (two goals), Pedro Neto, and Danny Welbeck each found the back of the net. Morgan Rogers provided three assists during that stretch.
Lincoln managed to cut the deficit (3–4) in the 75th minute thanks to a goal by Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But in the 80th and 90+4th minutes, Valentin Barco and Welbeck (Danny scored his second goal) each scored a goal for the home team, setting the final score of the match.
