GIRL OF THE DAY: A 22-year-old beauty has taken the helm of a men's soccer club

A new rising star has emerged in Turkish soccer. Zeynep Mestan, 22, has taken the helm of the men’s team “Turgutluspor,” which competes in Turkey’s amateur division.
Mestan has become the first woman to serve as head coach in the club’s history. Turgutluspor’s management emphasized that the decision was not made for publicity: Zeynep presented her own plan for the team’s development and convinced the club with her soccer expertise.
Zeynep was born on July 30, 2004, in Izmir. She played soccer herself for many years and competed in Turkey’s Women’s Third League. Her career began in 2019, after which Mestan played for Konak Belediyespor, Bornova Hitab Spor, Soma Zafer Spor, and Bornova Genç Yıldızlar Spor.
The young coach graduated from the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Ege University, and prior to her appointment at “Turgutluspor,” she already had experience working as an assistant coach for both women’s and men’s teams.
Following her appointment, Zeynep stated that she would like to see more women in Turkish soccer. Now she faces a difficult task—helping “Turgutluspor” bounce back after two consecutive relegations. The club, which previously competed in Turkey’s professional leagues, now plays in the Manisa Süper Amatör Lig.
However, it wasn’t just Zeynep’s unusual career story that caught the fans’ attention. The 22-year-old beauty is active on Instagram, where she posts photos from her soccer life, travels, and vibrant photo shoots. Following her high-profile appointment, interest in her page has grown significantly.
