Germany crushed its opponent in a straight-sets victory at the European Volleyball Championship

The German men's national volleyball team secured its second consecutive victory in the group stage of the 2026 European Championship. In a Group D match, the German team defeated Latvia in three sets.
Massimo Botti’s team controlled the pace of the match throughout. In the first two sets, the Latvian players tried to put up a fight and stayed close until midway through each set, but toward the end, the Germans confidently stepped up their play and closed out the sets with identical scores of 25–20. In the third set, the German team completely seized the initiative from the very first rallies, built a significant lead, and calmly secured a straight-set victory—25–16.
The match statistics confirmed Germany’s clear advantage in attack (41–33) and on serve, where the Germans recorded 7 aces to their opponent’s zero. At the same time, the Latvian team proved more effective at the net—7–4.
Breme was the top scorer for the winners, tallying 11 points. For the Latvian national team, Janis Eduards Medenis and Kristaps Smits each scored 9 points.
This second consecutive victory allowed the German national team to solidify its position among the leaders in Group D, which also includes the national teams of France, Romania, Turkey, and Switzerland.
