Dynamo snatched a victory late in the game; Gerson made his debut for Zorya

On September 19, in a Ukrainian Premier League Matchday 7 game, Dynamo Kyiv defeated Zorya Luhansk (2–0).

The match took place in Kyiv at the Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium, despite Dynamo’s official away status.

Forward Gerson Rodrigues from Luxembourg, who recently signed with the Luhansk club, made his debut for Zorya, coming on as a substitute in the 56th minute. In the 61st minute, the former Dynamo player took a shot from the left edge of the penalty area toward the near post, but Heorhiy Bushchan made the save.

In the 83rd minute, the Kyiv team managed to open the scoring. After a cross from Oleksandr Pikhalonok on the left flank, Junior Reis headed the ball out of the penalty area. Volodymyr Brazhko was first to the rebound and unleashed a powerful shot. The ball grazed Andriy Yanich’s leg, changed direction, and flew straight into the top corner (1–0).

Zorya rushed to equalize, but Dynamo soon scored their second goal. The Kyiv team launched a quick counterattack; Nazar Voloshin drew two defenders toward him and rolled the ball toward the 11-meter mark. All Matviy Ponomarenko had to do was slot it into the virtually empty net (2–0).

Dynamo maintained their lead and secured a 2–0 victory over Zorya. For the Kyiv club, this also marks their fourth consecutive match without conceding a goal.
