CS2's information leaks allow players to view anyone's chat logs
Повідомляється, що користувачі мережі виявили дані Counter-Strike, які дозволяють їм переглядати та викладати журнали чатів будь-кого. Ось короткий виклад.

What would you do if someone could read your Counter-Strike chat logs? Well, today you might have to find out. Online users have once again discovered a glitch that has been leaking chat logs from the past 5 months: here’s a quick summary.

CS2 players are finding ways to access leaked chat histories

On August 27, 2026, Counter-Strike players discovered a rather interesting loophole on the website. Apparently, it’s possible to access the Counter-Strike chat logs of literally anyone from the past 5 months.

Internet users claim that this data has likely always been part of the game’s demo code. However, it has only recently resurfaced and begun circulating. Some logs appear to be accessible through third-party websites that require login credentials: for security reasons, we do not recommend providing your Steam account information or visiting these sites until more information becomes available.

It is reported that streamer Ohnepixel accessed one of these websites during a live stream, which led to a surge in users.

Additionally, user @GamingBTMinute helpfully notes: “Press CTRL+F in your browser, and you’ll be able to search for keywords. That way, you can enter your favorite words and see how many times you’ve said them over the past 5 months.”

Of course, internet users are going crazy over this. While Counter-Strike is an interesting game, it’s not exactly known for its… polite… communication.

Streamer, pro player, and content creator @austincsgo wrote: “CS2 chat logs are now public. I guess the community better brace itself for tweetlongs and a ton of screenshots, haha.”

One interesting twist was that the community reportedly discovered streamer CaseOh’s Counter-Strike account and tried out this glitch. Internet users found images in which he complains about AWP cranks (real ones, to be honest) and calls members of the enemy team “idiots.” CaseOh, who has 9 million subscribers on Twitch, also jokingly wrote on Inferno: “I’m too fat to gain weight.”

What does this mean in Counter-Strike?

Humor in Counter-Strike is part of its charm, but Valve has to rein in jokes and profanity. This isn’t the first time in-game chat has sparked controversy. CS2, for example, removed the voice chat feature during breaks a few years ago, ostensibly in an effort to reduce toxicity. This move was extremely unpopular among players, who felt it stripped away a core part of the game’s identity. Voice chat during matches had previously led to hilarious moments and some of the game’s most memorable clips.

Earlier, in August 2026, the third-party matchmaking platform FACEIT announced that it would restore voice chat during breaks on its servers for a one-week trial period. The decision was made following a vote that allowed players to voice their opinions and was approved by an overwhelming majority. After the trial period ended, FACEIT stated that it was “evaluating the next steps” toward a full restoration of the feature. It also had to adjust its moderation policies, prioritizing genuine dehumanizing communication with stricter penalties while leniently handling minor violations.

In this case, popular chat logs will likely see results similar to those before the hiatus. We’ll likely see some extremely funny and harmless moments (such as CaseOh’s AWP struggles), but also some truly questionable player quotes that the community has been raving about. Gamers are still combing through the recordings for more information, so stay tuned for updates.
