The star of the U.S. national team became the first two-time World Championship MVP in history

On September 13, the final of the Women's Basketball World Cup was held between the U.S. and French national teams.
After the final, the organizers also presented individual awards based on the tournament’s results.
Brianna Stewart of the United States was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2026 World Cup. She became the first female basketball player in history to be named MVP of the world championship twice.
The star of the U.S. national team helped her squad defeat France 97–79 and win their fifth consecutive and 12th overall title—eight years after she was named MVP at the World Championship in Tenerife.
Throughout the tournament, the experienced Stewart had a huge impact on her team’s play. In the final, she recorded a double-double, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. This helped her finish the tournament with an efficiency rating of 18.8, averaging 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
