On Saturday, September 19, the final of the first-ever EuroLeague Super Cup took place in Dubai, UAE, between Greece’s Olympiacos and Real Madrid of Spain.
In a close game, Real Madrid managed to pull ahead by 10 points early in the fourth quarter and held on to secure a 93-89 victory.
Luwawu-Cabarro was the top scorer for the winners with 12 points, and a total of five Real Madrid players scored 10 or more points.
Real Madrid’s Ukrainian guard Maksym Shulga did not play in this game but will receive the trophy since he played in the semifinal against Dubai (98–95).
The Madrid club became the first-ever EuroLeague Super Cup champion and also avenged its loss to the Greeks in last season’s EuroLeague final (85–92).
